Legal Question in Family Law in New York

companion of 19 years left me and his child

Is there anything in NY that entitles me to spousal support? What is the best way to set up child support payments as there won't be a divorce. How much am I entitled to in NYS? He is leaving for a job out of state so I have to act quickly to have a payment schedule put into place before he leaves. I am currently umemployed and bills have to be paid. He has already stated that he would give me money every 2 wks when he gets paid but no amount was established. I need to know how much and when so I can somehow figure how to live within my means. He currently gets paid by direct deposit so if he is out of state I don't know how to get any money if he isn't here to get it to me.

You should immediately go to the Family Court to file a petition for support. The judicial hearing officer will calculate the child support (and spousal support) obligation and will direct that payments are to be made through the child support collections unit.
