naming a child born out of wedlock

If a child is born to parents who are not married and not together, does the biological father have any legal rights in terms of his child taking his last name? Also, does the biological father have any way to insure that he has equal influence in selecting the first name of the child?

No if a child is born out of wedlock the mother has naming rights.
