Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Yes, my name is Nicole, and I have a boyfriend who currently pays child support for the past 5 years for his childrens' mother who did not report the payments. Now the mother is upset with the father for other reasons and she is threatening to go to the police for back child support to basically ruin his life. There are plenty of witnesses that have seen him give her money every week but that is all the evidence that we currently have. Is there something that we can do?

The police have nothing to do with enforcing support orders unless there is an order issued by a court of law. Tell you boyfriend to keep records of support payments and stop worrying.

Even if there was a child support order, the police do not get involved.

The Mother would need to return to Fam court and file a violation.

If there is no child support order then he doesn't have to worry about violating anything.

But start keeping a record.
