Legal Question in Family Law in New York

personal loan

My ex signed a loan promise note about 10 years ago,that he owes me 30 k.The payments stopped about 8 years ago.How do I go about getting my money back.Please guide me in the right direction.

He maid payments a few times 8 years ago,then he moved to other city and claimed he is not makeing any money.Now he is doing fine but any time I ask for my money back or at least a payment,I get no answer.What kind of attorney do I need?

The biggest problem you have is that a lawsuit of this nature has a statute of limitations of 6 years from the last time he paid on the debt. You mention that the last time the debt was paid was 8 years ago.

A statute of limitations means that you cannot enforce the promisory note after that time period.
