Family Leave

Can I take the 3 month leave to care for my elderly (92) and sickly godmother (no blood relation) in Florida? I am her Health Care Surrogate and Power of Attorney as she has no family.

FMLA is limited to members of your immediate family. A godmother is not consider a member of your immediate family. Speak with your employer and see if there is an alternative solution and whether they can accommodate your request.
