Legal Question in Medical Leave in New York

pregnancy discrimination

My wife recently became pregnant, (due in June 2009) and soon after informed her employer. Her employer spoke with her, and they agreed that before she were to leave on maternity, someone would need to be trained to take her spot while she is gone. Shortly after being informed though (less than 2 weeks), her employer has decided to hire someone to ''work with her in her position'' , but is forcing my wife to change her hours and responsibilities with. Is this legal? It almost seems as if the employer is attempting to slowly change the job until my wife quits.

Re: pregnancy discrimination

It is probably pregnancy discrimination, and illegal. If you like, I practice in this area.
