Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Baggage Liability

I am in dispute with a US airline regarding a recent trip to New York. Our luggage was missing for the entire holiday, however more than this was the attitude of the airline's staff whenever we trid to find out what was happening. The holiday was ruined as most of the time was spent on the phone to the airline trying to locate the bags. However, during these calls we were told many things (generally what we wanted to hear) which we later found to be untrue (when the bags would arrive, how to claim the back the money spent on essential items etc). We have been offered limited compensation, however we feel airline vouchers that do not cover a return trip are insufficient. Are there cases where people have been awarded the cost of a flight to compensate for a ruined holiday, or a cash settlement rather than airline vouchers?

Many thanks.

Re: Baggage Liability

Sorry but the back of the ticket you purchased should explain the airlines' liability in your case. Usually, it is just the cost you incurred in purchasing items you needed.
