Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

i live in new york and i hired a florida lawyer to to sue someone who resides in florida. i feel he overcharged me and did unecessary work without my authorization. he threatened to sue me. does he have to sue me in new york because i live here or can he do it in florida. i signed all contracts to use him in new york and the amount is $3500 he is seeking.

If there is no retainer agreement, the lawyer certainly may sue you in New York. He may be able to sue you in Florida, however, you should submit the question to a Florida lawyer for a proper answer.
