Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

My ex wife got her hands on nude photos of my girlfriend from the girlfriend's ex husband, and is showing these pictures around to people in our community. She has also been spreading false rumors about my girlfriend, and I am worried that it is going to eventually harm her employment. Is there anything we can do to stop the rampaging? At this point, ANY advice is welcome. (We live in New York)

You should retain a lawyer to write a "cease and desist" letter.
