Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Divorce and Citizenship

Since 2000 I am married to a US Citizen. Based on the marriage, I got my Green Card in 2000 and my US Citizenship in 2003. We are now planning to separate and will most likely be divorced in 2007. (A) Will this divorce affect my US Citizenship/Green Card? (B) If post-divorce I want to marry a foreign citizen, will there be any restrictions imposed on my spouse's Green Card?

TIA for your answers. :-)

Re: Divorce and Citizenship

Dear Madam,

Your pending divorce does not affect your citizenship. You share all the rights and privileges of any U.S. Citizen and you are free to sponsor a foreign national spouse in the future.
