Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
If someone who doesnt have their greencard is married and is suffering from abuse in the marriage, can they leave the marriage without fear of deportation? They are trying hard to get their greencard but the abuse is too hard on them.

There is something called a VAWA petition that allows a person who is suffering abuse from a US citizen spouse to "self-petition." You should definitely consult with an experienced immigration attorney to assist you with this. Please call me at (646) 430 7384 x101 for a consultation.
