Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Moral Character

Back in 2001 i got a disorderly conduct on my record and in 2006 i was charge with obstruction of justice. I want to apply for US citizenship want to know if this would be enough grounds for denial and the other thing is that in 2009 i have to renew my greencard, will this affect my status when i renew my greencard. I have been a legal resident since 1988.

Thank you

Re: Moral Character

The DC (disorderly) will have no impact but I would need to know more about the 'obstruction' charge. Was it a misdemeanor or a felony?

Crimes bearing on character are more significant than non-felony convictions. My initial evaluation, based on this very limited information, is that these convictions will not have a large impact on your petition.
