Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York

I have a question.  On Monday I rented a budget rental truck for the day to move from one apartment to another.  I finished with the truck around 7pm. The facility was closed I called customer service and they informed me to leave truck in front of gate and to put the keys and contract in the lock box.  They stated that they would note that I left the truck and have it inspected in the morning.  That morning I called in ensure everything was ok.  The manager said its not there, that someone must have stolen it, and that I need to fill out a police report.  Should do this?  I do not own the truck.  I returned it back to there (budget) property.  They keep harassing me about the police report.

Thank you,

Yes. I am sure when you rented it you agreed to cooperate on any loss issue.
