Re: 17 and 26

New York law states that a person less than 17 years old is legally incapable of consenting to sexual intercourse or other sexual contact.

Hence, it would seem after one turns 17 she can consent to sex without her parents permission. She cannot however move out of the house without same.

Question for you. What set of circumstances exsist that a 17 year old would cut off her relationship with the people who presumably have loved and raised her from birth, and go with a person she has known for a while but may be transient in a young life?

Isn't there a teacher or religious figure that could act as a mediator?

Good Luck
