health benefits to dependents of employees

an employer who provides health care protection for employees requires that childbirth and pregnancy also be treated the same as other conditions, illnesses, or disabilities. But must the employer also provide a health benefit plan to dependents of employees?

No. Not if he or she does it evenhandedly.But does your health insurance allow you to add dependents at your own cost? It is usually well worth it to get in on a group rate.
