lease/deposit
We had given a deposit and two days later signed a lease for an apartment to take effect in May. We were unable to move in the end due to personal problems. A day after we had signed the lease we notified the owner and he gave us back our money but retained $500 for losing 3 days worth of advertising. Can he do this?

Probably not. But is it worth taking the landlord to small claims court?
