Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

sue hospital for damaging personal belongings while unconcious

so i was sent to ER after falling down. when i woke up i discovered they have cut off my jacket which was worth more than $1000. the jacket is ruined and cut in several pieces and cannot be restored again.

can i sue the hospital because they ruined my valuable clothing without my consent while i was unconscious? under what law can o i sue them for? thanks.

Nope there is no law suit. The hospital and staff are covered by the "good samaritian"law. A good samaritian is not lible when he acts on behalf of another who is unable to speak for themselves.

It is a good law which protects those that are willing or have jobs where they come to the aid of others.
