Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Hello, my father purchased land sometime in 1956 or 1957...left the papers with his sister...the sister said there was a fire and papers were burned. How would I get a copy of the land he owned in San German? My father has been deceased for many years. Please help me...thank you so much.
