Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

My landlord is locking me out

My landlord lives in Florida but her daughter runs the house while she is away. Recently she has complained that I don't do enough around the house (mow lawn etc...) When I told her it was not my job and that I only helped when I can she became mad.In the recent days she has started to lock the outside storm door for which I have no key. What can I do? I want to at least start documenting my experiences with someone. Help!!!

Re: My landlord is locking me out

You can file a complaint at your local precinct--do you have a lease? email me at [email protected] with more details re: your landlord tenant relationship--when did it start etc. Bottom line is --if you are the tenant, she/he cannot lock you out. There are court procedures which must be followed. It is possible that you may take your landlord to Landlord Tenant court as well--
