Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

New York State non- rent-paying sort of live-in boyfriend left one day and never came back for his clothes/belongings. It has been 4 months. Are his things considered abandoned? He has made no attempt to recover anything. Befuddled in Upstate NY

You can never say never, but if you threw the things out and he came back and, for arguments sake, tried to sue you for damages, what proof does he have that items were left there to begin with? He would have to prove to a court that there were items left behind, remember. Just food for your thought.
