You should go in voluntarily and deal with the ticket. Where was it returnable and what was the charge? Depending on what the charge is, you should hire a criminal defense attorney or an attorney who deals with traffic tickets to help you work something out. I do both and depending on where the ticket was issued may be able to assist you.

If you contact my office @7188340087 with more details, I will be able to advise you accordingly. The phone consultation is free of charge. From my experience N.Y. does not go to Conn. to pursue traffic summons violators, however if you come to N.Y. and get stopped you will be arrested.

Re: Outstanding Ticket - New York

I will need more information on the type of ticket and the charge listed on the ticket.

First, was this a standard traffic ticket or was this a desk appearance ticket which is used for a criminal charge but they still only give you a ticket which makes it appear less serious but is really an arrest.

Second, what was the charge listed, if it is only a traffic violation, you can appear and clear it up usually very easily. If it was aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, section 511.1 of the VTL then it is a criminal charge and your right there may be a warrant for your arrest in which case you should get an attorney.

Third, what jursidiction (county) did you get the ticket in, that will tell me the situation as well.

If you wish to answer these questions, you can e-mail me at [email protected] or contact me through my office at 516.746.4747.
