Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Wills in New York State

I have an existing will dated 10 years ago. This was done by an attorney. I would like to change the executor. I would like to do this without occuring the expence of the attorney. Can I change the executor and/or make a new will with out an attorney? My will is very simple no complecations or a large estate.

Yes, you can prepare a new Will without an attorney; BUT there are risks that it may not comply with the statute.

Essentially, the Will must be in writing, you must sign it at the end and your signing of the Will must be witnessed by at least two adult witnesses (but not a beneficiary), each of whom must affix his/her signature and address.
