Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina
How do I complete a Notice Of Right To Have Exemptions Designated in NC? The only property I own is my 2018 Ram that I own with my husband (not paid for). And 4 Industrial Sewing Machines. I rent my home. I only receive Social Security. I’m 67 years of age.

Your industrial sewing machines go under item 8 and are subject to the $5,000.00 "wild card" limit. If they are worth over $5,000.00, there is a possibility the Sheriff will take them and sell them to pay off your creditor. Your spouse gets listed in item 4, you summarize and put the value of your household goods under item 6, the vehicle goes under item 7. Put your county in under Services at this link https://www.nccourts.gov/services (copy and paste). There is a service called "guide and file", or "eguide and file" which you will find helpful. You can always contact a local attorney for specific help at a nominal fee. Many consumer bankruptcy attorneys offer to help people with this form. Remember it is due 20 days after you received it and there are NO extensions of time allowed.
