Legal Question in DUI Law in North Carolina

3 Drunk driving charges

I have a relative who is going to court for their third dui.He always appears at court but his mother is terminally ill.He wants to leave the state and be with his mother.I told him it wasnt a good idea.He said he dosent believe they will look for him.He says he will turn himself in after her death.I believe him but i think it would be worse on his time. What are his chances on getting caught and will his time be worse. His mother has been giving 6 months to live.THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS.

BIG MISTAKE! If anything, he should retain or hae a lawyer appointed and request the court to either continue the case in order for him to be with his mother or ask the court to delay sentence so he can be with his mother. He should NOT simply miss court. He can contact me for more detailed info if he wants.

Good luck.
