Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

mislead about employment status

employer suspended me for 2 weeks, with guarantee that my job was secure, upon returning to work I was told I no longer had a job.I did not seek other employment during 2 weeks suspension, because I was told I was not fired, only suspended. Does my employer have any right to lawfully do this to me?

TN is an at will state so an employer can terminate you for any reason. Sounds like since he had a good reason to suspend he may have had a good reason to terminate. If there is no age, race or sex discrimination involved the employer can do whatever he wants.
