Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

Extra Costs Popping up Just Before Closing

my attorney (3 days before closing) tell me that because I stated a gross amount on my 401(k) and am only 70% vested, I need to cut him a cashier's check for the amount of the difference to have the closing go thru. He tell me he will immediately after the closing issue me a check for that amount. Is this right? I feel like I'm about to lose some money...especially since the cashier's check will be made out to him. Please help me.

Re: Extra Costs Popping up Just Before Closing

Based on the little information you included as to the purpose of the check to the attorney, I can only say BE Careful! Never heard of this. I would make sure he fully explains to you the purpose and get it in writing!

I may have an alternative solution to obtaining access to legal advice for this and any other issues that may arise throughout your families lifetime without the need to pay out big bucks first. If you would like more information, please e-mail me and I will send it out to you.

Either way, I wish you good luck.
