Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

Utility Right of Way in Question

My local Power company recently clear cut and destroyed flowering bushes 20 feet into the back portion of my property. I pulled my survey and it should no utility right of way on my property, only a 15' alley way behind my line.

The utility company provided me with a conveyance, which gives them rights along the back and side lot lines but doesn't specify an exact number. So, whats to prevent them from cutting down everything if they see fit, as they have already done?

Do they have legal right to destroy my bushes on what appears to be my property (which by the way were put in place through their planting program because they'll never get large emough to interfere with the power lines)or do they have some right to do whatever they please to maintain their lines?

In my professional educated opinion,

it sounds like you've been wronged, you're about to be

mistreated further, and you should contact a local attorney.

Good luck.
