Legal Question in Workers Comp in North Carolina

lost finger tip

my husband was injured at work and lost the tip of his right middle finger down to the first joint. His boss told him if he didn't file a wc claim he would pay for his lost time and medical bills. He was out of work for 1 month and he was paid for that time. However, the medical bills went unpaid for 3 months which caused my husband to quit his job. Within 1 hour of quitting his bills were paid in full by his employer over the phone with a credit card. My question is, is he intitled to a settlement for the loss of the finger tip?

Re: lost finger tip

Yes. Go to the NC Industrial Commission website, runoff a Bulletin, file a Form 18 and read the Rating Guide and IC Rules with regard to amputations. Multiply the number of weeks owed by his weekly compensation rate. He should be entitled to this lump sum payment for the finger tip. You can reach the NCIC website by linking from our site at ncworkcomp.com.

Best of luck!
