Legal Question in Disability Law in Ohio

Hi,

I have a student loan which the U.S. Department of Education who has no record o me. Yet a company has been collecting offsets for the Department of Education. I called someone from the company which is Sallie Mae Inc. and was told 3 different things. One said it was paid off by me some years ago, another said I dont have and account with them and as of today, I was told I have and active account. I asked for a hard copies to be sent to myself. The collection agency and both companies are one in the same. They now want to attach my SSI payments. What do I do, is this legal, where is the money going? Need Advice ASAP

Discuss this only with a government official, no private collection agencies. If the loan exists, you can pay the government directly. If a private agency contacts you, respond in writing only and demand to see the original papers. If they don't have it, they cannot sue. If they do have papers, contact the US government for consolidation under the government programs available.
