In Ohio, if one party to a court ordered custody arrangement is not living up to the court's orders, then the party suffering the breach can bring a Motion to Show Cause why the other party should not be held in contempt of court for violating the court's orders.

The court will then hold a hearing as to whether there has been a violation of the court's orders, and if there has been a violation of the orders, were there special circumstances which might have justified that violation.

Lastly, if the court finds that there was a violation of the court's orders without sufficient justification, then the court must decide what sanction is appropriate for the party who violated the orders. That can often come in the form of extra vistiation, fines, attorneys fees, a switch of custodial parents, and even jail time.
