Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Final Hearing

I do not want the divorce but my husband filed. We have talked and agreed to use his attorney. Do I have to sign papers prior to the final hearing and what happens if I don't show up? I don't think I can handle it as I love my husband dearly. He just one day decided he didn't want to be married.

Re: Final Hearing

It really depends. If you filed an answer to the divorce, then the hearing can not go forward to a final hearing unles the separation agreement is already signed. If you do not show up and an answer has not been filed, the Court may still grant the divorce as long as he brings a witness to Court. Realistically, should you desire to fight the divorce, he will just wait until he is separated for at least one year and at that point the grounds for then divorce will be met!! At that point the only issue will be the division of property.

It would be my suggestion to consult counsel to explore all of your options.
