Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

I live in Ohio. I have court papers giving me visitation with my son. My husband refuses to allow me to see him. 1. childrens services is not involved. 2. I am not an addict nor am I crazy. 3. There is nothing wrong with me or my home. My ex is just a control freak and an abuser. I have filed contempt charges. In the mean time when he fails to produce the child I try calling the police, they fail to do anything. First they stopped comming out and would just take note on the call log. Now today they wouldn't even do that. They said I had to talk to my attny. They said I couldn't just call it in bc they had no "proof" he wasn't there yet they refuse to come out. My question is are they allowed to do this? Why are they getting away with basically ignoring me? is there anything i can do to make them do thier job? Every week it is more of a struggle to get them to even take my name

In Ohio, You have to go through the divorce court in order to inforce your rights to visitation. That means bringing a contempt charge before that court. You should have taken all of the police records from the previous times when you complained and make sure that all of that gets into evidence before the court.

If the court finds him in contempt then it may order him to jail and he may have to end up in your attorney's fees. The local police will enforce a court order but the order has to be specific enough to tell them exactly what to do.

So get an attorney, file the contempt motion, and let the court sort it out.
