Legal Question in Insurance Law in Ohio

racquel

The father of my child has two omvi charges. He wants me to put his car in my name. I want him to sign a promissory note that states that he will be financially responsible for any thing having to do with the car (insurance, repairs, and in the case an accident occurs while I'm driving the car). The car is paid off. He will be working while I take care of our daughter and take him to work. I want to know if the promissory note will be binding in the case that something happens. I just don't want to get stuck with any financial responsibilty because I won't be working. What should I make sure I include in this promissory note?

Re: racquel

I wouldn't advise putting the car in his name. If he gets caught driving it (I assume his license is suspended) and gets into an acccident, you could be charged with negligent entrustment.
