Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

altering compensation plan

I work in a order-drive custom production position, and my compensation is a per-piece rate based on the specifics of the project. Recently, we completed and shipped a project on the 14th. We have not been paid fo this project yet, as our pay period is for one calendar month, paid on the 15th of the following month. Today, the 17th, the owner deceided to revise the pay schedule for this customer, resulting in a decrease of $227.20 in earnings for the project mentioned. The owner insists that because the chage was made before payroll was calculated, that we are to be paid the lower rate. I feel that because the project was complete and shipped prior to the change, that the previous rate should stand. We have no written contract or earnings agreement, and this situatio has never occured or been addressed previously. Who is correct here?
