Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

In May of 2005, my mother signed her house over to my sister and I. My mother still lives in the house, but my sister and I mantain it. My mother's health is deteriorating and she may soon need extended care in a nursing home. Will my sister and I lose the house for Mom to get medicare/medicade so she can pay for the nursing home. She has very little savings. When we signed for the house I thought there was a 5 year timeframe where they could take the house. Now I am being told it is 7 and we are not grandfathered. What is the truth?

There is a five year look back for Medicaid. They will look at all transfer that occurred in the five years prior to the application.

You should consult with an attorney who is knowledgeable about Medicaid issues.
