Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

What entity would be the best option to use as an executor in a will or trust if the decedent has no heirs or others to fill that role? If the estate is small (less than $100K), might it be best to simply allow it to be settled by a probate court?

It is always best to have some plan in place, at minimum a will so you can choose where your assets will go upon your death. If you die without a will, your assets will be distributed according to the laws of intestate succession which may possibly leave your assets to a remote relative you may never have met or to the state if no one comes forward to probate your estate. It may make you feel better knowing your assets are going to a charity or cause you care about instead. You can accomplish this by either a will or trust depending on whether you would like to avoid probate and have your assets be distributed more easily after your death.
