Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

how concerned should I be about a letter from an attorney about an out of state

I receved a letter yesterday from an attorney from oklahoma about a hospital bill that I incurred approximately 6 years ago and could not pay. I now live in alabama and still do not have the finances to pay them right now. The bill is for 2,775.00. The letter stated that if I didn't pay they would have a bench warrant put out for my arrest. Can they do this?

I suggest that you contact a local Attorney and ask about an action under the FDCPA. Basically, an Atty cannot threaten to do anything that he cannot actually do. A 6 year old medical bill is uncollectable UNLESS you have made payments. If so, then when was the most recent payment? Bench warrant? I think not!
