Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Oklahoma

Job Dismissal

So, I told my job that I was planning to leave at the end of July for graduate school. Within in one day of notice I was told I'd not be needed any longer. There had been NO mention otherwise of not being needed...ever.

What can I do? I now have no job and only two months left before I move. The liklihood of finding a new job for two months is not likely. Can I sue for discrimination? Anything I can do?

Re: Job Dismissal

Eh...what kind of discrimination are you thinking would apply?

Basically, you told your job that you were leaving, so it was in their best interest to move on. You have no control over the timing of their moving on. It sounds like you didn't actually give 2 weeks notice, but simply told them. In any event, the result is the same: they let you go first.

Your better bet would have been to wait until 2 weeks before you left, and THEN told people.

You can try to get unemployment...
