social security garnishment

what do you do if someone garnishs your ss income through the bank where the check is automatically depositied and you were never notified of a garnishment. the bank went ahead and gave them the money and now wont give it back.

Nope: you have to go into the court that granted the garnishment and prove that that's the source of the money. The court should award some or all of it back to you.

you might try sending the proof to the garnishee first though and asking them to return it, otherwise you'll have to go to court, That way, you might get your attorney fees out of it if they refuse,m because they had the opportunity to do the right thing.
