Legal Question in Workers Comp in Oregon

Hurt at Work

I am a safety consultant working for a workers compensation company. I was working out in the field conducting a job site inspection for one of our construction clients. The job site was very muddy and wet. After my inspection of an addition that several carpenters were building, I stepped down to the groung level on the makeshift rubbermaid step they had in place. It was not secured as required by OSHA and it was setup on top of a slippery piece of plywood. As I stepped down the step slid/tipped causing me to fall and hurt my back, knee, and hip.

I have been off of work for about one month with doctors note. My company has had me working at home on light duty creating PowerPoints. They have not been to excited with my work product but I have explained that I am on pain medications and am unable to provide a quality product as my thinking skills have obviously been lowered due to the medications. I belive that they will be firing me soon.

Recently, I was looking on a website and noticed that my company was hiring for my job and posted my job as being open on the same day I was injured.

Please advise if I have a case and if the clients insurance can be held accountable for not providing a safe step at the job site.
