Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

I am going to have a retail theft charge brought to a magistrate in pa for items under 150 dollars and first and only time this has happened.....I am on meds that change brain chemistry and complicated thoughts....what should I do...I can't let my husband find out about this but don't wanna end up not being informed and prepared for this....do I need a lawyer....what type of penalty can I expect and will they leave me with a record. I live in pittsburgh pa....Thanks

YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED A LAWYER. IF YOUDON'T HAVE THE MONEY YOU CAN APPLY WITH THE PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE. ONLY A LAWYER CAN DEAL WITH THESE CHARGES PROPERLY AND IF THIS YOUR FIRST OFFENSE, A LAWYER CAN PROBABLY GET YOU INTO AN "ARD" SENTANCE OR AT THE LEASE, PROBATION.
