Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

i hired an attorney to handle a drivers license dispute a few years ago. The attorney i hired did not show up to court or complete the work i had hired him for and i ended up loosing my case which in turn ment i lost my license for 3 months and had to pay the courts. i am now receiving calls from a collections agency saying i owe $4400 for my legal services. I already paid this lawyer $1400 and he did not do anything i asked. I never signed an agreement with him but he spoke of the total charges for his service being $2500. How can i dispute these charges and stop the collections calls?

Do you have a receipt for payment? do You have a fee agreement indicating what attorney was supposed to do? If you dispute the debt you should inform the collection agency and demand an accounting for how the alleged sum claimed to be owed was calculated. You also can file a complaint with the fee disputes of the bar association. Your best procedure may be to review the situation with an attorney.
