family death

my grandmother passed away how many days does my work place have to give me off for this death in the family?

You asked about time off from employment for a death in the family.

Employers are not required to provide any time off for a death in the family. Many employers as a matter of course or policy provide three days off for a death in the immediate family.

Unfortunately grandparents are usually not included in the definition of immediate family.
