Re: civil judgment

You asked how long a civil judgment can stay on your credit report.

Civil judgment can remain on a credit report for up to 10 years if they are not paid. In some cases judgments can remain on a credit report for the entire statutory period of twenty years.

If the judgment is paid or otherwise settled then often the judgment disappears from the credit report within a short period or after a request for investigation made to the consumer reporting agency (CRA). But, CRAs are allowed to report satisfied judgments for up to the full seven year reporting period for general negative information.

Regards,

Roger
