Legal Question in Insurance Law in Pennsylvania

My mother wants to add me to her life insurance as a beneficiary. She states the insurance company has to have my SSN. I am a bit reluctant and feel they can use my drivers license number to verify and confirm my identity. I have perfect credit and am very protective of it. I don\'t know how many hands and eyes are going to come across these insurance forms. I know I\'m being paranoid, but in this day and age, can you blame me? Is it absolutely necessary for them to have my SSN? Thanks in advance and I love this site!

I'm not aware of any particular law on your issue. I can't think of a reason why the ins co would need your ss# at this time. Perhaps at the time of payment. Perhaps your mother can speak to her sales agent or a supervisor in the ins co & resolve the issue. Good luck!
