My rights

Hi my question is can a car insurance company ask me for my telephone records? my car burn and the insurance company is asking my for my telephone records and I want to know what is legal and not for the insurace, and what are my rights.

Oviously, the insurance company suspects arson. Your policy with the company reqires you to cooperate with the company in any investigation. HOwever, the question is where does cooperation begin and invasion of your privacy occurs. Also the company might unfairly conclude that you were the arsonist and turn the records you give them over to the police, which could be used against you. On the other hand, the insuarance company could take you to court to compel you to release these records, but they would have to show a good reason. I would consult a lawyer before turning the records over so that you all of your rights are protected.
