Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

evicting an ex-boyfriend

My ex boyfriend, who has threatened me physical harm, went as far as blowing the pilot lights out on the stove, will not leave my house. I told him to move out and he refuses. I own my house and want him gone before physical violence occurs. The clerk that I talked to at the courthouse said that I needed proof that he was going to do me harm, that I could not evict him any other way. Is there any other legal ways to get him out? He stills pays me rent, can I refuse payment? How do I get him out?

Re: evicting an ex-boyfriend

Well perhaps you should talk to the domestic violence folks not the clerk.

I would say blowing out pilot lights indicates all is not well.

You might check with you local YWCA or Victim Witness Assistance Office.

If you wish to go the landlord tenant route refusing rent would be a good start. Then there are a couple of steps you need to follow to get the case in front of a DJ.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
