Late Fees

hi, my landlord is charging me 100.00 late fee after the 5th of the month...is this legal in the state of PA

Re: Late Fees

Depends on what the monthly rent is. A late fee should be related to the loss the landlord suffered. The should not be a hidden penalty.

The legal rate of interest is 6% so in theory any charge greater than .5% of the monthly rent could be challenged as a penalty.
