Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

Going in debt over sons accident

my son was in auto acc in sept. 2000. inhospitol for week, 4 in icu. he was passenger in truck that went out of control because of speed and dwi. the driver was charged. there were 6 people involved in acc. my ins only paid for the first 10m and then all med bills went to my health ins , my ins has paid about 40m and i had to pay out of pocket for about 3m because of copay. my son now has to have braces for 18 mnth to straighten his teeth so the doctor can operate on his broken jaw again. my ins wont pay it because they say they dont pay for ortho, our dr. told them it is not for cosmetic but it is for fixing his teeth before they can operate again but ins still wont pay. now i have to come up with another 5m to pay for this. my sons lawyer seems to just shrug it off, it has been a year and a half since acc. the drivers ins wont pay more than 50m, and that has to be divided up by 5 people. this amount was turned over to the courts to figure out how to divide up by injury status which my son was hurt the most. my policy is only worth another 75m total for my son that his lawyer is trying to get him. my son was 17 when accdnt happened and is now 19. is there any way for me to get riembursed for the money that i have spent.

Re: Going in debt over sons accident

You really should consuly the attorney who is handling your claim. Any expenses related to your son's injuries are part of the claim, for which you should be reimbursed, assuming there is sufficient insurance coverage. You should consult your attorney about filing a lawsuit against the insurer for payment of the dental expenses.
