Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

Do I have any liability for planning a trip?

I planned a weekend rafting trip for a group of people to West Virginia in May. I rented a bus, contacted camp sites, arranged for guides for the rafting trip and charged a certain amount of money for the whole weekend. Food, booze, transportation, rafting, and camping. Am I liable for anything? Should I have people sign a waiver or something to protect myself?

Everybody is paying me, and I'm paying the bus company and the rafting company for rafting, meals, and camping. Am I liable, since people are paying me directly for the whole weekend?

Thanks

Alex

Possibly, yes. The item that caught my attention was the alcohol. If you are supplying alcohol and something happens quite possibly you are going to be sued for negligence. And negligence is the key here--if something bad happens and people are relying on you and you should have taken more care you can be held liable for injuries or something else.

You really should have a waiver drafted by an attorney to keep you clear of some liability and to let the individuals know that they are responsible for their own behavior. People are pretty familiar with these sorts of waivers and it shouldn't cause much trouble. You probably can find an attorney to draft a waiver for you for around $125.00 to $150.00 which you could use over and over again.
